BASAL CELL CARCINOMA OF HEAD AND NECK REGION: AN ANALYSIS OF 120 CASES

Background: Skin cancer is the most common malignancy and makes upto about one third of all cancers diagnosed. The skin include nonmelanoma melanoma. majority head neck are cancers[1]. Out which BCC common. Basal cell carcinoma accounts for approximately 75% cases cancers. Older age male sex associated with higher risk developing basal carcinoma. occurs mostly on face , head, scalp, hands. Aims And Objectives: To analyze presentations carcinoma, different areas involved treatment modalities. Material Method: Retrospective study from January 2008 to May 2013. Prospective June 2013 2015. A total 120 were examined. All retrospective record was retrieved pathology plastic surgery department along new analysed. Results: examined out 76( 64%) and44 (36%) female. Giving female ratio 1.7:1. Cheek (29%) site involved. Mean at presentation 58.7 years median 60 a range 25-85 years. Nodular lesion seen in 46.07 % followed by pigmented 18% superficial 15% cases. Conclusion: region affecting mainly elderly males. Increased incidence likely due increased ultraviolet radiations, outdoor activities, changes clothing style ozone depletion. Surgery main stay treatment. Adjuvant given stage 3 4 disease patients some positive resection margins.
